Hi, I'm Kristen. Welcome to my circus.

I’m a first-time Mom in my mid-thirties learning how to juggle the challenges of mommyhood, marriage, an evolving career and my busy mind. 

My life outside of motherhood is an exercise in contradictions (but I'm owning it!) I'm a native New Yorker living in the Midwest. I grew up in the city, but I'm learning to love suburban life. I'm creative at heart, but I call a fast-paced marketing office my home from 9 to 5. 

I consider myself an aspiring writer. My curiosity for almost everything has helped me become an amateur photographer, knitter, crafter and baker. One day I would love to add sewer and glass blower to that list of amateur talents. I am also a coffee addict on an endless search the perfect cup of coffee.

In 2006 I met my husband, Dr. Spacetime. We He and my cat, Squee, became instant besties (to this day, I swear it was Squee who wooed him). After a cross-continental long distance relationship, a whirlwind tour of Europe and living together in South Africa, we said "I Promise" in 2010. 

South Africa changed my life. But more on that later. 

We welcomed our son, Doodlebug, to the world in the fall of 2011. He has added so much happiness, love, laughter and chaos to our lives! Somehow we're managing to find humor even in the sleepless nights. (I'm so lucky to be parenting with my best friend.) 

I can't wait to write about exotic adventures with Doodlebug in faraway locations, and when he's a little bit older hopefully we'll embark on those adventures. In the meantime, I will write from the trendy cafe in a strip mall, or from the basement of my suburban home, confident in knowing that meaningful stories can be found everywhere. It is not what your story looks like, but what it says. And mine may look like a frazzled, unshowered mom, but I'm hoping it still sounds like the optimistic, free-spirit that lives inside me.
